Dolpo region is a newly opened trekking route which is slowly gaining popularity among the trekkers. Dolpo region is one of the rain shadows of Nepal and receives less rainfall each year. The region is tucked in between the Tibetan plateau and Dhaulagiri Mountain ranges. Despite being less popular among the trekkers, this region has been visited by the world famous personalities who have shared their incredible experiences of trekking to this isolated region. Moreover, the national award wining film ‘Caravans’ was also captured in this region.

Lower Dolpo Trek takes you to one of the most remote regions of Nepal. You can explore the intact natural beauty and different cultures of this region. Begin very close to Tibet the people of this region are highly influenced by the Tibetan cultures. Among the very few regions Dolpo is also one where the Buddhist Bon Po religion is still practiced.The trek begins with a domestic flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu which is about one hour flight. Then the next day you will fly to Jhuphal from Nepalgunj which takes about 25 minutes. You will then pass through several isolated villages where you can explore the remoteness and intact cultures of the people living to the area.

Upon your arrival at TIA airport, Kathmandu our representatives will welcome you and transfer you to the respective hotel. We will provide you traditional welcome dinner with cultural shows. Overnight at Hotel.

Today you will have sightseeing day in Kathmandu. Kathmandu city is full of historical and cultural sites. Kathmandu city is one of the cities with numbers of UNESCO world heritage sites in the world. You will visit Soyambhunath Stupa also known as (Monkey Temple), Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple.  Overnight at Hotel.

After an early morning breakfast you will move to TIA and fly to Nepalgunj. It is about one hour flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is situated in the Terai part of Nepal. It is a flat land with hot and humid climate. You can find a huge difference in temperature of Nepalgunj and Kathmandu. You will be then transferred to the hotel. Overnight in Nepalgunj.

Today you will again have a short scenic flight to Juphal. It is about 35 minute’s flight from Nepalgunj to Juphal. From there you will trek to Dunai. Today is the initial beginning of your trek to Upper Dolpo Trek. The trek today is mostly a downhill walk. It takes about 3 hours to reach to Dunai. Overnight at Dunai.

You will continue the trial along the southern bank of Bheri River walking through a relatively easy trial. The trek then goes through several deep gorges, hanging bridges and isolated villages. You will pass through a beautiful pine forests, terraced fields and small villages and finally reach to Tarakot. Overnight in Tarakot.

After having breakfast at Tarakot, the 6th day of Lower Dolpo Trek goes to Laini. You will trek alongside Tarap Chu River and crossing the river twice you will reach to Sandul Gompa situated between Barbung Khola and Tarap Chu River. Continuing further you will walk through farm terraces and rural villages. After a few up and down you will finally reach to Laini.

The trek begins after having breakfast at Nawarpani. You will walk on a steep trial that goes along the switchback above the Tarap River. The trial becomes more exciting and the valley starts becoming narrower as you start trekking further. After crossing the banks of Chyugur Khola you will reach to Nawarpani.

On the eight day of Lower Dolpo Trek you will trek to Do Tarap. The trek begins with a gradual ascent to Kamattarka  at the junction of Tarao Chu and Lang Khola. You will then cross a narrow George and pass through some wild rose and juniper bushes. A further more hours trek will take you to Dho Tarap village. You can see some irregular stone walls in the village. The village is inhabited by people of several regilons and caste. You can find people of Bon Po and Chaiba religion and few Tibetans in the valley. Overnight in Do Tarap.

Today you will have acclimatization day at Do Tarap. It helps you body to adopt the oxygen content in the air. You will be able to visualize some glimpse of monasteries nearby and get a closer look of the local culture. The local can be seen is a different costume called Bakhu and Dochha. You will roam around the surroundings and rest overnight at Do Tarap.

After having breakfast at Do Tarap you will move towards Num La Base Camp. The trek begins with an ascent towards the Upper Tarap valley with magnificient views of lush grassland on the sides of river. Then you will walk alongside of Tarap Chu River and have alluring views of Tarap valley with wide plains and high mountains. You will pass by a Buddhist monastery and walk on a rough trial that takes you to Numa La Base Camp. Overnight at Numa La Base Camp.

The 11th day of Lower Dolpo trek is one of the longest treks. You will have your breakfast at Num La Base Camp and then start the trek. You will cross Num La Pass walking on a steep trial that takes you up to the ridge of the pass. You can get incredible views of Dhaulagiri Mountain and other surrounding barren hills of the Dolpo Region. From the top you will descend to Pelung Tang. Overnight at Pelung Tang.

You will have your breakfast at Pelung Tang the trek begins to Baga La Pass. The trek begins on a steep trial that takes you to the top of Baga La pass. You can get admiring views of the dry landscapes and Kanjirowa Mountain. From there you will descend to Dojok Tang. Overnight at Dojok Tang.

After having breakfast at Dajok Tang you will trek towards Ringmo. The trek today is relatively short and easy with few ups and downs. After walking foe few hours alongside beautiful pine forests and alpine vegetation you will reach Ringmo Village. It is a traditional Tibetan village of the Dolpo region. Overnight at Ringmo village.

You will have your breakfast at Rigmo village and begin the today’s trek. On your trial today you can see yak caravans moving in and out of Rigmo valley towards the Tibetan borders. You will visit a monastery before you reach to Phoksundo Lake. You can relax and admire the beauty of Phoksundo Lake upon after reaching there. You will camp at the shores of the lake and stay overnight.

From the Phoksundo Lake you will trek to Chepka following a downhill trial. From here following a massive overhanging rock and after that you will pass by several villages on your way. You can find several medicinal herbs on your way. A final climb will take you to Shyanta. Overnight at Shyanta.

After having breakfast at Shyanta you will begin your trek following a gently sloping trial. You will pass by Brich trees on your way and cross several villages and terraced fields. The trek goes via Sulighat and you can have several wonderful views on your way. Overnight at Jhuphal. 

From Jhupal you will fly to Nepalgunj and then again fly to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj. Our representatives will drop you to your respective hotel where you can rest overnight. Overnight at Kathmandu.
