Manaslu Tsum Valley is a newly opened trekking destination of Nepal which was restricted until 2008. Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek takes you to a scared Himalayan pilgrimage valley, ‘Tsum Valley’ which is situated in the northern Gorkha district of Nepal. The Tsum valley is situated with a beautiful backdrop of the majestic Himalayas like Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal and Boudha ranges. This beautiful valley is rich in ancient art, culture and religion. One can explore the purest form of nature and culture during Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek.
The word ‘Tsum’ means vivid and this hidden valley is said to have a long history of Buddhism. Because of this, the impact of Buddhism can be seen in its unique culture which has remained intact till the date. It is said that the Tsum Valley was a culturally distinct geographical called ‘’Tsum Tso Chukum’’, which literally means thirteen province ruled as one. You can still find the reminiscence of the Tsum Kingdom in this trek. The Tsum Valley borders with Tibet and it was also a part of Tibet once. The valley has distinct features which cannot be seen in any other regions. Manaslu Tsum Valley consists of several monasteries like Rachen Gumba and Mu Gumba which lie on a pretty plateau nestled in the lap of the valley and are rich in its unique histories and culture.
Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek takes you to the most remote and unexplored part of Nepal. Polyandry still exists in this valley and the people are nowhere touched by modernization. One can have the glimpse of traditional lifestyle in this trek. The people of this region are mostly from Tibetan origin and speak unique dialect. You can also explore the rich flora and faunas of this region. The valley consists of the endangered animals like Himalayan Thar and Blue Sheep. :After having an early morning breakfast at Kathmandu you will start with a drive to Arughat. Arughat Bazaar lies in the Gorkha district of Nepal. The drive goes through Prithivi Highway where you will explore the lifestyle and villages outside the valley with wonderful views of green hills, flowing rivers and wonderful landscapes. Just after leaving the highway road you will drive on bumpy roads which will take you to Arughat Bazaar. You can see numbers of hotels, shops and restaurants there. Overnight at Arughat Bazaar.
From Arughat Bazaar you will cross the bridge over Budhi Gandaki River and start the trek towards Soti Khola. You will walk on stone paved roads and then pass through hydro- electric power plant and fields of rice and millet which takes you to Mangaltar. You will then walk through a forest and pass by a small market called Shanti Bazar and cross a suspension bridge over Arkhet Khola. The trial becomes steep afterwards. You will descend to a huge waterfall and then a long steep will take you to Kuerepani ridge. A short descent from here will take you to Soti Khola. Overnight at Soti Khola.
After having breakfast at Soti Khola you will start the trek to Maccha Khola. The trek goes through a rock trial and then starts winding up and down. You will pass by two tropical waterfalls on steep trials. After that you will walk down to terraced fields and then pass by a Gurung village Labubesi. The trial then goes behind a rocky outcrop from where you can see the valley opening wide. A few hours walk from here along the stoned paved roads and river side trials will take you to the village of Machha Khola. Overnight at Machha Khola.
: The trek begins after having a short breakfast at Machha Khola. You will head to Jagat after that. The trek begins with short ups and downs on a narrow trial where you will cross by a river called Tharo Khola which takes you to the village of Khorlabesi and then takes you to Tatopani which is a natural hot water spring. From there you will climb over another ridge and then cross a suspension bridge over Budhi Gandaki River. After that you will climb on a well crafted staircase and cross a landslide over a ridge to Doban. You will again cross another suspension bridge and then the trial again climbs up to Duman following rugged trials. You will again cross another suspension bridge over Yaru Khola and climb more stone stairs to Tharo Bharyang. After that you will cross the west bank of Budhi Gandaki River and trek along the river. After then a short climb will take you towards the village of Jagat. Overnight at Jagat.
You will get your permits checked in Jagat. From today you will enter in restricted area. You will climb on a ridge over Salleri and then descend to Sirdibas. You can see the valley opening wide as you continue your trial towards Ghatta Khola. After that you will walk on a hanging bridge and then climb up to Philim which is a large Gurung village. There is a school and a police station in the village which is made by Japanese. A short and scenic walk from here will take you to the village of Chisopani. Overnight at Chisopani.
After breakfast the trek begins with a gradual walk to Ekle Bhatti. From there you will cross the George and the further trial will take you to a beautiful huge waterfall. You will then enter the pine forests which takes you down to the trial of Tsum Valley. The trek further goes through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests to the village of Lokpa from where you can see the magnificent views of Himchuli and Boudha mountains. From here you will again pass by several villages walk via tricky trials and cross a river called Siyar Khola and finally reach your today’s destination Chumling. This place provides a wonderful view of Shringi Himal. You will also visit the old Chumling monasteries and walk on the stone streets of the village. Overnight at Chumling.
:The walk today is relatively short. From Chumling you will cross a suspension bridge and walk to Rainjam and cross another suspension bridge over Sherpu Khola which takes you to Gho village. Walking further for about 2 hours climb to Tsum will take you to the village of Chhokangparo. You can enjoy the beautiful views of Himchuli and Ganesh Himal from here. Overnight at Chokhangparo.
After having breakfast at Chokhangparo the trek to Nile begins. You will walk up to Rachen Gompa by crossing a rope suspension bridge from Lamagaon. After visiting the Gompa you will then cross Shair Khola. The walk continues to the villages like Phurbe and Pangdun. From Chhule you will climb upstream and again after crossing a suspension bridge you will finally arrive at Nile. Overnight at Nile.
After having breakfast at Nile you will trek to Mu Gompa. The Tibetan border is very close from here. You will walk to the west bank of the valley through the Tibetan landscapes. The walk today is very short. A final climb will take you up to Mu Gompa. You will then visit the monastery and then visit Dhephu Doma Gompa. It is the oldest monastery of Tsum valley. Overnight in a lodge.
: You will visit the largest Gompa of this region, Mu Gompa. The Gompa lies in one of the most remote part of the Tsum Valley at an altitude of 3,700m. The Gompa has a great significance for the people of Tsum Valley. The history of Mu Gompa is directly associated with the dawn of Buddhism in the valley. Overnight at Mu Gompa.
From here you will trek back to Burgi Village via east bank of the Shiar Khola after passing by Chhule and Phurbe. The walk today goes up and down passing by some small settlements forests and terraced fields. Burgi village is a beautiful small village. Upon reaching there you can also hike up to Milarepa’s Cave for the mesmerizing views of Poshyop Glacier, and other mountains. Overnight at Mu Gompa.
After having breakfast at Burgi village you will trek back to Chumling. The trial goes down with mesmerizing view of the mountains, hills and fertile farmlands. You will descend to Gho and further descent will take you to the bridge over Sarpu Khola and further trek will take you to Chumling. Overnight at Chumling.
After having breakfast the trek continues to Philim. You will walk on a flat trial with magnificent view of Samba Falls. After about 6 to 7 hours of trek you will finally arrive at Philim. Overnight at Philim.
Today you will descend to Khorlabesi after having breakfast at Phim. The trial retraces the same route descending via several villages like Khorlabesi, Jagat, Tatopani and Sirdibas. You can also relax in hot water spring in Tatopani. It is believed that the natural hot water spring cures the skin disease. It takes about 6-7 hours to reach to Khorlabesi from Philim. Overnight at Khorlabesi.
Today you will trek back to Soti khola. On your trial today you will pass by several rivers and cross several suspension bridges. The treks go through Gurung village of Labubesi and follow steep trials passing the two waterfalls which take you to Khursane. You will then cross the Sal forests and finally cross the bridge to arrive at Soti Khola. Overnight at Soti Khola.
From Soti Khola you will trek down to Arughat and from there you will drive back to Kathmandu via same route of Prithivi Highway. Overnight at Kathmandu.
