The trekking section is generally 4–5 nights / 5–6 days, depending on the route and itinerary. An overall Bhutan holiday is usually longer to allow time for arrival, acclimatization and cultural sightseeing.
The route reaches approximately 4,200 metres, depending on the exact trail and pass used.
It is generally considered a moderate trek. No technical climbing skills are normally required, but trekkers should be comfortable walking several hours a day at high altitude.
Previous high-altitude trekking experience is not necessarily required. Good general fitness, proper acclimatization and preparation are important because several camps are above 3,400 metres.
The commonly recommended periods are spring and autumn, particularly March–June and September–November. Spring offers rhododendron blooms, while autumn is generally known for clearer mountain
The trekking nights are normally spent in tented campsites, with camping equipment and support staff arranged as part of the trekking service
Trekking packages generally provide meals during the camping section. The exact meals included before and after the trek depend on the selected Bhutan tour package and should be confirmed in the final itinerary.
Bhutan trekking is arranged through a licensed tour operator with a trekking guide and support crew. Camping logistics, permits and route arrangements should be confirmed with the operator before departure.
Essential items normally include:

Yes. Travel insurance covering trekking and high-altitude activities is strongly recommended. Check that the policy specifically covers the activities and maximum altitude of your planned trek.
For preferred trekking dates, especially during the main spring and autumn seasons, advance planning is advisable because guides, camping crews, accommodation and transport need to be coordinated.

Best Time for Bhutan Tour & Druk Path Trek
The most suitable seasons for the Bhutan Tour and Druk Path Trek are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November).
Spring – March to May
Spring brings pleasant weather, blooming rhododendrons and generally favorable trekking conditions. Lower elevations are comfortable for sightseeing, while higher elevations remain considerably colder.
Autumn – September to November
Autumn is one of the most popular trekking seasons in Bhutan. The weather is generally dry and visibility is often excellent, creating favorable conditions for mountain views and trekking.
Summer – June to August
Summer brings warmer temperatures but also a higher possibility of rainfall. Trails can become wet and slippery, and mountain visibility may be affected by clouds.
Winter – December to February
Winter is cold at high elevations, with possible snow along the trekking route. Conditions can be challenging around the higher passes, so trekking arrangements require careful consideration.
Druk Path Trek Difficulty
The Druk Path Trek is generally considered a moderate-level trek. Walking days normally involve approximately 3–5 hours of trekking, with a combination of gradual climbs, descents, forest trails, mountain ridges and high-altitude terrain.
The trek reaches approximately 4,210m, so altitude should be taken seriously. Previous hiking experience and a reasonable level of physical fitness are recommended.
Regular walking, hiking, cycling or other endurance activities before the trip can help with preparation.
Altitude & Acclimatization
Altitude is an important consideration because the trek reaches above 4,000 meters.
Walk at a comfortable pace, stay properly hydrated and inform your trekking guide if you experience symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, unusual tiredness or loss of appetite.
Your trekking itinerary should always remain flexible enough to respond to weather and individual health conditions.
