Gangapurna Expedition - Trip Overview

Annapurna Sanctuary, in West Nepal, is a heaven of scenery and mountain giants. From the highest peaks like Annapurna, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri, this place is also home to the 7000-metre peak, Gangapurna Peak. At 7,455 metres, Gangapurna Peak is an ideal location for an adventurous expedition. Not only this, it lets you explore Annapurna Circuit to the fullest. 

Manang is a naturally gifted landscape in Nepal. Besides the arid landscape, this place holds climbing peaks like Tilicho Peak, Gangapurna Peak, and others. Sandwiched between Tilicho Peak and Annapurna III, Gangapurna peak sits East of the world's deepest, Kaligandaki gorge. Hence, Annapurna II at 7,937 metres, Annapurna III at 7,555 metres, Annapurna IV at 7,525 metres, Tilicho Peak at 7,1344 metres, Dhaulagiri at 8,167 metres, and Manaslu at 8,156 metres stand taller when viewed from the Gangapurna Peak summit. The rushing adrenaline and joy of witnessing Himalayan giants reward the arduous summit push. 

The classical-styled Himalayan expedition to Gangapurna Peak is an ideal terrain to develop climbing skills for 8,000-metre peaks. Hence, the intermediate climbers who have experience of some 6,000 metres and want to sharpen their climbing skills find Gangapurna Peak an ideal location. The icy ridges and long snow walks demand technical expertise. On top, using an ice axe, walking with crampons, fixed-line, harness, and other alpine techniques are a must for climbers. 

People go crazy when they get the opportunity to trek on Annapurna Circuit. In the Gangapurna expedition with us, we'll program the itinerary that includes a complete Annapurna Circuit trek along the climb. Hence, you'll get an insightful glance at the remoteness and aesthetics of the Annapurna region. Also, we'll explore countless monasteries, exotic flora, fauna, arid terrain, and countless mountains. Often, we'll witness the traditional Yak caravan with the ringing chime and whistles of the caravan leader. It will be a pure joy to experience this rural lifestyle firsthand. 

Gangapurna Expedition - Itinerary Overview

At alpine terrain, beyond the tree line, the Gangapurna expedition awaits you. We start this expedition with a drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. We'll drive to Dharapani from Besisahar and trek to Chame and Pisang, following the Annapurna Circuit trail. At Upper Pisang, we'll stay for acclimatisation. The following day, we'll reach Gangapurna Base Camp at 4,650 metres. 

For the next 17 to 18 days, we'll stay at Gangapurna Base Camp and High Camp, practising the routine climb and acclimatisation. Also, our Sherpa guides will train and guide you throughout the climbing period at Gangapurna base camp. The three High Camps to the summit will give you proper acclimatisation and preparations for the summit climb. Our Sherpa porters will manage the logistics for you hence, reducing the extra burden on you. The tented-styled accommodation will make this expedition one of a kind. 

With a successful Gangapurna summit, we'll head to Thorung La Pass, Thorung Phedi, Jomsom, and Muktinath. We'll fly to Pokhara from Jomsom and celebrate our successful Gangapurna expedition. We'll fly back to Kathmandu and end our month-long Gangapurna expedition. 

There will be an extra buffer day for rest or possible acclimatisation. We'll have a proper weather check before heading for the summit climb. Hence, you'll be in safe hands with experienced climbing guides from World Expedition Nepal.

Gangapurna Expedition - Climbing Difficulty

Gangapurna expedition is a strenuous graded peak to climb. But, your previous climbing experience matters most while scaling an AD graded alpine peak. 

Gangapurna Peak has several ridges 45 degrees steep. The icy and snow-filled Ridges and rocky terrain make the climb technically demanding. The crucial part of walking on a fixed rope requires technical expertise. You have to maintain the pace and not forget to hook the karabiners, crampons, and harness. Further, acclimatisation plays a crucial role at the 7000-metre peak. Without proper acclimatisation, it becomes cumbersome to summit the Gangapurna peak. Our Gangapurna Expedition has a 17 days climbing period where you'll get adequate acclimatisation. 

Physical fitness also comes in handy when hiking and climbing at high altitudes. The longer walking hours, tiring summit days, and routine climbs all demand physical endurance. Hence, train yourself with cardio and fitness programs before joining the expedition. Also, take part in some marathons, hikes, and small treks as preparation for this trip. Also, a whole-body health checkup is a must before joining Gangapurna Expedition.

Gangapurna Expedition - Foods and Accommodation

Gangapurna Expedition package entails your accommodation and food throughout. Hence, we'll make these services at the best available lodges and tented camps. 

Your Kathmandu stay can be in star-rated hotels and enjoy the luxury service. However, we don't include Kathmandu's accommodation in the package. Till Manang, we'll be housed in tea houses, often known as lodges. You'll get hygienic foods with comfortable nights of sleep. 

At Gangapurna Base Camp and during the climbing period, we'll be accommodating in tented camps. Hence, our logistic management will take care of our meals and comfortable overnights. The foods will be nutritious and hygienic. But, you have to accommodate a twin sharing basis for overnights. 

We at World Expedition Nepal practice a clean environment campaign where we'll try to cut the waste. We follow eco-adventures on every expedition. Thus, we'll clean our tents and bring the solid wastes from the base camp to lower places.
