Jiri to Everest Base Camp is the original trek route to Everest Base Camp which starts from Jiri. The trek starts from a long drive from Kathmandu to Jiri. Since, most of the trekkers don’t want to do Everest Base Camp trek because of the Lukla flight, it is the best idea to skip flight to Lukla. On the other hand there is no risk of trek being postponed because of delay in Lukla flights. Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek is also suitable for those trekkers who want to skip the crowd in the peak tourist seasons. This is a longer route of trekking and you will find very less trekkers on this route.
Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek is a perfect trekking package to explore Everest Region. However, the walk to EBC is longer from here and consists of tremendous amount of ups and downs. Also this trek is great from acclimatization point of view. As you spend many days in Everest region you body can easily acclimatize in this region. The Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek is the original trek route used by earlier explorers.
Early in the morning you will depart to Jiri from Kathmandu. The drive is about 8 hours long. Jiri is a beautiful village which is also called as Switzerland of Nepal. The drive goes through snake like roads where you will explore the villages outside the valley. During this trek you can experience Hindu and Buddhist cultures as you will pass by numbers of villages inhabited by Hindu and Buddhist communities.
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu Airport our representatives from WEN will be waiting for you at TIA, Kathmandu. They will take you to the respective hotel in a private vehicle. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Early morning you will drive to Jiri by bus or other private vehicle. It is about 8 hours drive from Kathmandu u to Jiri. On your way you will encounter the places, peoples and lifestyles outside the valley. Jiri is a beautiful village. You will spend some time for rest and then again drive to Bhandara for few more hours. Overnight at Bhandara.
You will have your breakfast at Bhandara and start your trek. Today you will trek to Sete from Bhandara. The trial mostly goes downhill today. You will descend to the lower fields at first following a small stream passing through lower fields of village. You will be descending down up to Kenja. After than the trials starts ascending. Ascending through steep trial at first and then the trials gets smoother as you gain altitude. The trials take you to Lamjura pass. A few hours climb from there will take you to Sete. Overnight at Sete.
The trek begins after a short breakfast at Sete. You will climb to the top of Lamjura Pass. The trials contains both gradual and steep climb. On you trial today you will be walking through forests full of rhododendron, magnolia, birch and many other trees. If you are trekking in spring then you can see the blooming different types of rhododendron flowers on your way. Also the sounds of enchanting birds will be entertaining you all the way. The trials climb up to huge painted main walls after descending down through some more forests. From the head of the valley a short climb takes you to Junbesi. Junbesi is a Sherpa village and a popular stop for trekkers. Overnight at Junbesi.
After breakfast the trek for today begins. You will cross Junbesi Khola by a wooden bridge. Following a left hand steep trial will take you to Khurtang. You will get the first glimpse of Everest from here along with other mountains like Thamserku and Mera Peak. The trial passes through Takshindo La pass at 3071m after crossing several villages. The pass is marked by a large chorten. You will also pass by an isolated Takshindo monastery which has amazing architecture. The trail again descends through a rhododendron forests and then cross by several villages. After crossing a stream over a wooden bridge will take you to the village of Nunthala. Overnight at Nunthala.
After having breakfast the trial descends to Dudk Koshi River. You will cross the river via suspension bridge and then the trial ascends through jungle and terraced fields. You will pass by a Rai settlement and then reach Khari Khola. From Khari Khola the trial descends from the village and you will cross a suspension bridge. From there a steep climb will take you to Bupsa village. Overnight at Bupsa.
During your trek today you need to be very careful of your belongings because the trek goes through forest inhabited by monkeys. The trial today offers remarkable views of Khumbila and Cho Oyu mountains. You will pass by ridges, Mani walls and several Sherpa settlements on your way. From Surkhe the trail ascends up to Kharte Dande pass above Dudh Koshi River and then you will reach Puijyan village. You will see the Lukla airstrips and town on your way to Surke. Overnight at Surkhe.
Today you will reach the popular trek route to Everest Base Camp. The trial goes ups and downs to Choplung village. This is where the popular trek route from Lukla joins. The trials become more crowded and you can expect number of trekkers along the way. After passing few Sherpa settlements you will reach Phakding. It is a popular overnight stay for trekkers.
The trek begins after a nice morning breakfast at Phakding. The trial today is relatively harder than that of yesterday as you will be ascending towards Namche. Following the bank of Dudh Koshi River you will cross a suspension bridge and then you will pass by the entrance of Sagarmatha National park at Monjo. The trek then passes through dense forests and villages. A final steep climb will take you to Namche Bazaar.
Proper acclimatization helps your body to adopt the oxygen content in the air and reduces the risk of altitude sickness. It is very important while trekking to Everest Base Camp. For this, you will have a leisure day at Namche today. However, Acclimatization doesn’t mean staying idle. You won’t climb further heights but you will be roaming around in the same elevation for some hours. Namche Bazaar is an amazing place to hangout. There are numbers of restaurants, lodges and internet cafes. You can hike to Everest View Hotel which provides the best view of Everest and popular for sunrise view. You can have the first glimpse of Everest from there. You can also visit Everest Photo Gallery and Sherpa Culture Museum at Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche.
After breakfast we commence our today’s trek with short gradual walk until it goes down to Phungi Thanga. After that the trials goes uphill ascending through dense forest of Rhododendron and pine trees. The mesmerizing views of towering peaks, Everest (8848m) Nuptse (7855m) Lhotse (8618m) Amadablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m) Kwongde (6187m) and Tawache(6542m) will be complementing you along the way. Upon reaching Tengboche you will visit the largest monastery of Khumbu region, Tengboche Monastery. The views from here are awe-inspiring. Overnight at Tengboche
The trek to Dingboche begins after a short breakfast. The trial first descends through a beautiful forest after then cross Imja River via suspension bridge. The trial today is probably the easiest of your trek but you may encounter dusty trials along the way. You can spot the local animals grazing in the fields during the trials. .Your overnight stay will be in Dingboche.
After breakfast; the trek begins for the first one hour the trek goes steep and then goes gentle until Thugla. Along the trials splendid views of the snow capped peaks can be seen. After a short break at Thugla for lunch you’ll continue to the steep trial that takes you to the Thugla Pass from Pheriche. There you can see the stone memorials in the memory of unfortunate climbers who lost their life during Everest Expedition. A short gradual walk from here will take you to Lobuche. It is a small settlement near Mount Everest. Overnight at Lobuche.
After an early morning breakfast you will head towards Gorakshep. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to reach Gorakshep from Lobuche. The trial is steep and you’ll have to cross multiple moraines. After crossing Changri Nup and Changri Shar Glacier you will reach to Gorak Shep.
Gorak Shep to EBC, back to Gorakshep.
You will have a short rest at Gorak Shep and then the final trek to Everest Base Camp begins. You will be reaching the destination of your bucket list in few hours. The trial gently goes upward and steep. You can see the breathtaking view of the Khumbu Icefall along the trial.
Today you will hike to the highest view point on earth which is Kalapatthar (5545m). The summit of Mt.Everest is not visible from the Base Camp itself. To view the summit of Mt.Everest you will have to hike to Kalapatthar.It is one of the best view points on earth. The walk is about 2 hours from Gorakshep. From there you can see the wonderful views of the giant snow peaks. The Mt.Everest looks absolutely stunning from there. After spending some time there we will return back to Pheriche. It is a small village and popular stop for trekkers and mountaineers. Overnight at Pheriche.
Today you will be returning to Namche Bazaar. The walk seems easier as you will be losing altitude. You will descend through forests, river trials and several Sherpa settlements. After about 5 to 6 hr trek you will reach to Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche.
After an early morning breakfast at Namche you will head forward to Lukla. The trial today has both ups and downs. You will pass through lush jungles and walk through beautiful pine forests, villages and pastures. A few hours climb from Phakding will take you to Lukla. Overnight at Lukla.
An early morning flight with short scenic views of the mountains will drop you to Kathmandu Airport. Our representatives of world expedition Nepal will be waiting for you there. They will transfer you to the respective hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu.
